Hollywood stars graced the Sunshine Coast on Friday night for the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter charity gala ball at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort.
Those superstars walking the red carpet included Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin and James Dean with Shrek making a bold appearance at the beginning of the night.
Supermodels, dressed by Zambezee, paraded gowns down the catwalk to show off what’s hot this summer for almost 600 guests, including people in property who were there in numbers to support the charity event.
At $195 a ticket, along with auctions and raffles, the funds raised on the night reached $160,000. Guests were entertained by standup comedian Paul Martell and left starry-eyed from the performance by comedic magician Phil Cass.
AGL Action Rescue Helicopter event co-ordinator Angela Miles said the event topped last year’s ball which raised about $145,000.
“Considering the economic times, the quality of guests we had attended was incredible,” she said. “Obviously the idea would be to top this year’s event and just pulling out all stops to make it an even better event than this year.”
Plenty of bubbly and a barrel of laughs made for an eventful evening, many of whom no doubt wore the consequences over the weekend.
