“If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there”

Lewis Carroll (Alice in Wonderland)

Gone are the days of looking through the street directory and arguing with your better half about who can and can’t read maps now I find myself turning left when my GPS is telling me to turn right because of course I have direction in my life.  Don’t you know I am a woman and I have a fantastic sense of direction.

Noun

1.

sense of direction – an awareness of your orientation in space

sense – a general conscious awareness; “a sense of security”; “a sense of happiness”; “a sense of danger”; “a sense of self”

I turned a corner and found myself relocating from a Tree change to a Sea change.  Packing up my family and finding a new direction in life.  Moving from Warwick in the Darling Downs to the Sunshine Coast with its pristine beaches and lush hinterland offers the best of both worlds.  The property market is fast growing with the lure of a laid back lifestyle it is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

With plenty of new developments underway Maroochydore is becoming the hub of the Sunshine Coast.  The likes of Emporio and Sunshine Cove are getting closer to being underway with the first stages selling fast.  But the word that is on everyone’s lips on the Sunshine Coast is “Unitywater”.

First bills leaving a bad taste in Sunshine Coast residences mouths.  Complaints about over billing have been coming in from across the coast with according to today’s Sunshine Coast Daily article (12/08/10) – “Unitywater to retest meters in ‘hot spots’”, Buderim and Rosemount being identified as ‘hot spots’ and auditing will take place to determine accurate readings and just where problems are.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • An old-style single-flush toilet could use up to 12 litres of water per flush, while a standard dual flush toilet uses just a quarter of this on a half-flush.
  • A standard showerhead may use up to 25 litres of water per minute whereas water-efficient showerhead might use as little as seven litres per minute, which is less than a third.

With water rates on the rise it is not too late to act and ensure you are using water efficiently in and around your house.  It could be as simple as changing a leaking washer to installing a water efficient shower head.
