Green Light For Further Sunshine Coast Development

THIS month saw the unanimous Sunshine Coast Council decision to approve Oceanside Kawana, the Bokarina Beachside Development. Stockland’s Bokarina Beach master plan covers an almost 30 hectare site east of Nicklin Way. The development site is one of the largest remaining parcels of beach front land on the Coast.

This substantial master planned community is set to create homes for the rapidly rising Sunshine Coast population, with a further 2688 people predicted to call the development home. The master plan also includes a retail and tourism precinct, along with a proposed surf club venue. The Council approval did address the concerns of local community, including a one-way route to limit the ‘rat running’, along with an awareness campaign to address potential disruption to nesting turtles which regularly occupy this beach front.

This proposal will now go to the State Government, as the land owner, for further consideration.

The neighbouring Sunshine Coast University Hospital and health precinct is due for completion this year, while further South the first stage of construction is under way for the Bells Creek Arterial. This road will be the vital link between the southern end of the Sunshine Coast and the Bruce Highway, paving the way for future growth like Caloundra’s master planned Aura Community.

These new development and infrastructure projects are leading to job creation and population growth, which in turn provides healthy supply and demand here on the Sunshine Coast. With 4 major developments on the Sunshine Coast it’s easy to see why experts are predicting steady growth and positivity in a rising property market.
